UPDATE: It is the coilpack.
If I give the car light throttle input it will work fine. It seems to shift through all the gears. If I give it too much throttle it will buck and the revs will drop. There will sometimes be a clack that is coming from the engine bay. I think I can feel it through the gas pedal. Anyways I dropped the Bullmobile off at the shop and we'll see what they have to say.

Could be. That makes sense.

Sounds like it.
We all don't know what you drive. What car is it?

Sounds similar to when a car with a carburetor has fuel starvation issues.

Classic case of "there's an issue with spark, gas, and/or oxygen delivery."

could be a dirty throttle body too if you think you are feeling something in the pedal. This causes all kinds of driveability issues like that

Check the fuel pump.

What kind of car?

Could be something in the injection system, maybe? If the pump or any of the lines are damaged, or if the injectors are clogged, it's possible that the engine will "run out of fuel" for a moment under hard acceleration due to the system failing to supply.

I, of course, assume the worst and went right to needing a new tranny.

Yup, could be.
